I thinking about building a duck hunting boat this year and would like to power it with an Evinrude DuckTwin. I know little about this motor, other than there was such a thing, and would like to consider using one for the project. Any info concerning specs, source etc would be great.

Don't have too much info on those, other than they are 3 HP made from 1952-1955. The model numbers went from 3012-3016.
EDIT: I did find one from 1966 also!!!

Hi rickdb1noat- I found that decal while searching for replacement decals for my Evinrude '72 Triumph, which is what got me interested in the motor. 3HP won't cut it though. My duck hunting experience has led me to believe nothing less than 15hp for the hot runs to shore when facing a quick storm.

Hi Downjigger
No problem, Just paint any size motor you like camo and slap that decal on it. The only difference between the original ducktwin and the other models of the day was the color.

Downjigger,

I have a '66' Ducktwin. It is identical to the "lightwin" except the factory camo. paint.

I concur. Ducktwins were made for sheltered inland use. Don't bet your cajones, dog or dekes on a 3 hp anything when a storm forces you to get off the water quick.

Alcan-

That sounds like a good idea. Since the boat obviously won't be an original why make the motor original. Now I need to find a picture of a DuckTwin and some info on paint colors and schemes including the block, heads etc.

Anu suggestions on finding this?
