Hey there members,

Not sure where to post this. I bought a 14’ aluminum fishing boat for dirt cheap that needs to be fixed up & i was wondering where i could find some info on it as all markings are gone or burned up as it was in a fire in the back end. All i can find is the serial number.

Ser# ZLU029670479-D. HIN decoder comes back as invalid, it is stamped in.

Would like info on it so i can remark it when i get it fixed up & re-painted.

Sorry if in the wrong area, but not sure where to post.

Thanks for any info.

[h=1]Here is the info . . .

ZLU HIN Decoder
[/h] Our HULL ID Decoder breaks down the Hull identification number into the following information:
The HIN or CIN you have entered meets the Straight-Year HIN format. It might also be a type that contains the country code and thus the boat comes from USA or Other . The serial number of the HIN is 02967 and is set by the boat builder. This boat or vessel has a Certification Date of (1979) and a Model Year of 1979 with month of build (April) based on the formatting of your hull_identification_number (HIN) .

The manufacturer identification code (MIC) of your craft identification number (CIN or HIN) is ZLU. This MIC (ZLU) stands for the company name Lund-larson Boats Canada Ltd which is currently Out of Business. This boat manufacturer has other company names (ZLU sometimes goes by these name(s) Div Arctic Sports Products, , , or .

This company (Lund-larson Boats Canada Ltd) is owned by and is located at PO BOX 2080, 92 TOWNLINE RD in STEINBACH state of MB. It manufactured this vessel and placed your HIN or CIN on the hull. The Parent Company for this boat maker is GENMAR HOLDINGS (). Lund-larson Boats Canada Ltd has started making boats, yachts and other watercraft as of 12/12/1972 0:00 and went out of business on (04/02/2004 0:00) in the following country: CANADA.

Make sure to compare the date of boat manufacturing with the dates in which the company was actually in business.

The US Coast guard provides this comment about this watercraft manufacturer: Lund Canada Assigned New Mic (ybv) After Purchase By Brunswick..

Not sure how much info you will find that helps you with a restoration :noidea:

Call Lund. They're still in business and may be able to assist you with the info you seek. They may direct you to a dealer to buy things such as graphics for the side.

according to what is left of the tags i was able to find that it is a C14. I was able to find an old brochure with a decent pic so i can fix inside back (fairly close anyway).

I bought it for dirt cheap so if have to put some money into it shouldn’t be too bad.

Thanks again.

Just a note but aluminum doesn't like fire, I am not sure if it was a fire or a FIRE!

As long as it still looks like aluminum you are fine, it gets kind of flakey and whitish when it is burnt to much.

Did the wood in the transom burn out?

Exactly what I was thinking 5150, do they call you 51 for short? Also rivets don't much like flames. I hope you save this Lund. Start a thread in the restoration forum. The guys there will be a great help to you and all your questions and answers will be in 1 thread. We restored a 16' 81 Polar Craft this past winter and it came out like new with a 70 Evinrude on it, it flew on the test ride. Was asking $4900.00 CDN and someone offered 5500! We couldn't find any graphics for her. I made a JPEG from pics off the internet. Took that to a graphic guy in town and he blew up the images, matched the colours and did it in that vinyl peel and stick stuff, can't remember the proper name for that wrap stuff. I used to copy and hand cut stencils, no more of that. So even if Lund doesn't supply old graphics you can go that route.

Some of the aluminum is burnt, but most is salvagable. Just cut out a new piece of 3/8 aluminum for the transom. The piece that goes around the wood at the top, i’m gonna replace with a new piece. The wood itself survived, just a few burn marks on it.

Thankyou all for your help & i’ll move over the restoration forum where i’ll post up some pics
