I recently aquired on an older 6 HP Evenrude Fisherman. It needs work but I can't determine the year because I can't find the model or serial number. Any body know
where to look? Any help would be appreciated.

Port side transom clamp bracket tag should have model #. Not there, look on powerhead for a plug thats quarter-sized. that usually has model #. If no, send a photo, someone will chime in w/exact year.

Thanks for the quick reply. The tag on the transom clamp is gone. The number on the plug is 13?5?781. The first ? looks like either a 0 or a 6. The 2nd ? is either blank, a5 or a 3. Thanks for the help.

That's the serial number. I don't know how to figure year from that. Can you post a pic?

Re: Looking for model/serial number

I don't know what i'm doing wrong with the attachment but I believe I figured out the year. I was looking at parts lists on a website and clicked on the motor
covers. The decals on my motor match those on a 1973 motor. I couldn't seem to see any other years with the same markings so I assume thats the correct
year. Do you agree? Are parts and specs for other years interchangable? If so is there a publication that lists the common or interchangable parts & specs.

Re: Looking for model/serial number

Thanks again for your help. I am having trouble with that address you left. Are the "**stars" wildcards? or do I substitute something (like"evinrude") for them? Neither myself or my wife can figure it out. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't know what happened there? Anyway, go to: 'boats dot net' and search for your model under 'evinrude parts'. Apparently I cannot put in an actual web address w/o it getting *******'d
