Looking To Buy A Nice Color Fish Finder... Opinions?

Hey all,

I currently have a humminbird 727 Fishing system on my dash, I would like to get a nicer color Fish Finder / GPS combo for the dash, and move the 727 up to the bow for trolling.

I have been looking at Lowrance, Garmin, Eagle, and Humminbird.

All in the range of $449-$699, It must be color, and GPS.

I recently found the Navman TrackFish 6600 Which is both color, GPS, and has the added feature of SmartCraft capabilities..

The only thing I know is that Navman comes as a cheap hand out type FishFinder with some boats... But almost all manufacturers have thease models.

So I am curious if the higher end models like the TrackFish 6600 is a good unit or not? I would love to have the SmartCraft capabilities but if the fishfinder and/or GPS is not that great, then I would rather get a different unit, as the FishFinder/GPS is the Primary use (Obviously).

So I am hoping to get some input from you guys to try and get the best unit for my money.

Chad, If you want the GPS w/chart and the FF, you will want the largest screen you can get. However, you need to monitor the pixels as color screens have many less pixels than the monochrome ones for some reason (save $$?) I never thought too many colors was inportant, at least on the FF.

I think your budget is a bit small for a good combo unit. Good luck and post back if you find one, and I will buy one also.

I got Eagle SeaCharter 642 with NauticPath chip - for about $635. Check out the specs. Works great.

I recently got a humminbird 787c2. It used all the same wiring as my older humminbird. Specs were nice.
