Hello Guys! I'm back! Just kidding :)

Guys, so in October I did a lot of work on my boat plus obviously I winterized it. On the second to last start (when I wanted to warm up oil so its easier to suck it out) I've noticed that one of pulleys or however you called them was not spining. I've marked it on the picture please take a look. I had drive on muffs and all but the water wasn't coming out of the exhaust for like 30 sec to 45 max thus I've noticed something was wrong. That's how I've noticed that one of the pulleys was not spining. I've tighten the crap out of the belt, fired it up again and it was fine. Question, and this sort of bothers me since that time. Did I hurt the engine? Impeller should be fine b/c water was going in that far. Checked the flappers and they are fine, not fried. Thank you for any info.

Re: Loose belt.

That is the engines circulation pump and only circulates the water through the engine, but it doesn't really pump water out of the engine. The pump in your outdrive should have pumped water through the engine enough for it to come out the exhaust.
Since you tightened the belt, does the water pump out the back now? In 30 to 45 seconds I seriously doubt you did any engine damage.

Re: Loose belt.

Take the belt off and "feel" how that pulley spins,it should be nice and smooth,if there are any rough feeling spots it is probbally shot. The belt being loose might have caused it to not spin but a bad bearing combined with the loose belt would stop it also.

Thank you Don for your fast reply. Yes sir, water comes out of the back now. I guess I can relax for now.

Re: Loose belt.

Hi, thank you for reply. It was all working fine when boat was in the water then it was out for approx 3 weeks before i started it. After i tightened the belt it all works fine. That little thing that tightens the belt went up like at least 6 notches and when I put pressure on the belt at it's longest part, it only goes down 1/2 inch. It all should be fine however, I will remove the belt in May just to see how it spins. Thank you.
