Hello
The reason I posted earlier with a question about getting the bearing carrier out of the lower unit was because-

When I pulled the lower unit off the leg the drive shaft stayed in the powerhead. The driveshaft pulled out of the lower unit I guess leaving the lower circlip in the gearbox. I need to get the propeller shaft out to get to the circlip or can I get it another way? I have been told that this lower circlip is not essential but needs to be removed? Also do I need to remove the shift rod to remove the bearing carrier and propeller shaft? I want to do as little as possible to remove the circlip and rectify the situation.
Thanks
Jon
