have about 5 hours on a new yamaha 2-stroke 25hp.
for the first few hours it ran great, have done wide open bursts and everything great.
within the last week i ran into a problem,
first i noticed a drop in wide open rpm and speed, but the motor was still powerful for the most part and boat was fast so i didn't think much of it (figured rich mixture + fouled plugs = normal). Then the following day while cruising i could feel a miss and it got worse to where you'd go w.o.t. and get no increase in rpm or speed. It's now to where the boat won't plane and the motor completely bogs out when you give it half throttle or more.
It will start first pull and idle great, with an expected amount of smoke of course for 25:1 mix.
From running a 25:1 mix for break-in, what's the chance such a rich mix has caused the carb to either gum up or a float stick?
I would normally figure it's dirt or debris but the 6-gal gas tank is new and the gas is fresh, and the motor is new and only been run for less than a month.
So far I've pulled the plugs and they are clean and completely deposit free. they are also a nice tan color.
Was also able to feather the choke and can get the motor to roar back to life briefly. Have the motor off the boat and gonna look into the carbs quick to hopefully find an obvious problem instead of running it back to the dealer..
anybody experience such a problem, if so what was your fix?
