i bought my 30hp dro-1994 from germany , installed on a hammermeister munga boat and put it on water for the first time. the engine seemed to be very tidy and the owner guaranteed that it has very few hours. so it looks ,anyway
the engine started at once and i could run with my small 3,5meters boat for about 1000m , but i could not plane even at full throttle. ex owner gave me pictures with his son skiing , being pulled by my boat ,so my boat should plane easily
the engine stayed for about 3 years , so , as i have read on your forum i made a mixture of benzin-oil 50:1 in the eventuality that the oil pump will not work properly from the beginning.
anyway , after 1000 m , i suddenly lost power and i had to go very slowly to the shore , even if i tried to push at full throttle i could not obtain more rpm's.
i tried to pump benzin with the primer bulb when running , but nothing happened.
after that i cleaned the carburetors that were dirty , i inspected the membrane of the fuel pump and seemed to be ok and i cleaned the fuel filter, so i put the boat back on water.
this time i changed the whole fuel , filling with 100 octane fuel and poured additive to clean the carburetor. the engine started at once , but i could not get any power.
the engine starts only with choke even if it is already warm and the neutral throttle lever has to be set almost to the maximum, or the engine will stop. even so , when i push the lever to forward gear , it will stop , unless i leave the choke to half , at full neutral lever and the engine at high rpm.
after that , i can push the choke totally , but the engine will stop if the lever is not pushed to throttle.
hoping that i am not giving you a headache , i must say that i have run without a battery and the connectors of the battery were touching each other , so i probably ruined the rectifier as the voltage raises to 18v on the new battery that i finally bought.
finally , i discovered that the light showing overheating is not functioning , but i will solve this little problem myself , changing the LED.
main problem is that i live in romania , the closest servicing shop is 600 km away and i don.t have a repairing manual.
until i buy one , any help will be appreciated. thanks a lot , ovidiu
