Boy the help you have gotten is Aplus on the thunder 5, remember you have to adjust the carb while it is grounded to base timing. also do not run super gas in it. this system has to read spark nock that is how it works it is constantly reading and adjusting. with no nock it will advance the timing high at idle causing rough idle and lag on acceleration.
In my little mind I have to ask the merc god's what were you thinking on this one. I get lots of customer complaints on running condition with this system. bob
oh ya the wire location read NOTE on the paper don s posted.
I did adjust the carb while in base timing mode but with the engine running on just 7 cyl I'm sure it didn't help. The new wires will come in tomorrow morning

Got the wires changed out and a couple of other prelaunch items out of the way, boat put in the water and it ran great!! Took a run across the lake and rechecked the timing and tweaked the idle adjustements. :D :D :D

One thing I've learned it to K.I.S.S that would have saved me a lot of time figuring out the problem.

Thanks for all the help! I'll try to help out where I can but I'm a jack of all trades, master of none.
