Lost project topic...an error on my part for not saving it

So while I was at work I ran across a topic someone had posted (unknown starting date) and the subject was spraying gelcoat. The original owner of the topic was from the UK and was trying to figure out how coat his hull with gelcoat. The discussion got into a *** for tat over the best equipment/thinning products/etc...to use between several guys from here. One of the guys was YD...

The problem I'm having is, now I'm at home and I didn't save the link to it and email it to my home email. I've tried a number of searches and have come up with nothing. I'd really like to find it again because I wanted to read the remaining postings to see how it turned out. The last page I read he just sprayed 1 coat and got grapefruit peel all over the hull and that's when I had to get back to work and closed the browser down.

This guy (unknown user name) hooked 2 compressors together and was using a pot feeder style system.

Can anyone help me locate it again? Maybe one of you were following it and know who I'm talking about and can provide me a link to the topic?

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks Oops......I was just coming back to post the link too. It was driving me nuts not being able to find it so I was running a bunch of searches trying all kinds of gelcoat key words.....

Speaking of searches and gelcoat. It blew me away when I did a search on gelcoat and saw all the post that come up on it. There's at least 6 months worth of read just on that topic!!!

Thanks again for finding the link and posting it! Appreciate it.

it is interesting to note that there is currently no school that covers a whole boat ! (how to repair it)
there are naval architecture schools, mechanical schools but no hull schools.
ship wrights deal with wooden boats.

iboats is the largest library on modern day fibreglass boat building.
thats why this place is called boat university.

the threads in the archives, contain answers to virtually every every aspect of boat building.
anything you want to know is in here !

oops...I've found out how huge the archive files are here....it would take years to read 50% of them.

I was shocked at the finally results of Morebass's hull. I can't believe he got all that grape peel out of it. That stuff was thick!! I learned a lot from that post, since it hit multi-topics all at once....paint vs gel, sprayer vs roller, thinner vs no thinner, needle sizes, the list goes on and on.. But after reading it, I don't have any concerns about whether I'd re-gel a hull or not. If I find a boat that I like but don't care for the color, I think I'd gel it and probably hit YD up on the steps to doing 2 or 3 colors (stripes).
Which brings me to one quick question: If you sprayed the second to last coat and quickly had someone come behind and blow fine metal flake into a taped off area that you're spraying, would this work, if you sprayed a few clear coats over it?
