At best you have one broken compression ring in that hole.
It time for a full overhaul.
Do it the right way now and you can enjoy another 30 years.

Nahhh... at best you'd have an intake valve thats not opening all the way. Or either 1 of the valves is not fully seating.
At worst you have a busted ring.

Thats why i always say start simple and work your way up.

First off, I don't sell this stuff, but I have used autorx oil additive to free up stuck rings in automotive engines. Problem is it is not a quick fix. But It does work very well to clean up dirty engines.

was the engine cold when you initially did the 60 psi compression check???

And do a leak-down test. If you don't, you better hope you find the cause after you take the engine apart.... Many a person have torn down an engine and then can't find the overall problem...... LEAK-DOWN... My money is on the "top-end" of the engine.. Attack the offending cylinder and then you'll know to only pull the head and the which valve to pay particular attention to. OR, rebuild the whole thing. Pretend you're a real mechanic !!!

I warmed it up to about 140, thought it might be quite anough as it'd take a long time to get it much warmer on muffs an it won't go above 170 anyway.

I appreciate your help and support, folks!
Yes, I'm considering this. But I'd do my due diligence first to evaluate rebuilding versus getting a rebuilt one with 500hr/7yr warranty (parts availability, parts and special tools cost, machine shop and such).
Basically I'm not scared of taking it apart, I just never rebuilt an engine completely. I don't remember the last time taking my truck to repair shop.
Will do the leak down and post results later. Been quite busy now with unfinished home project yet.
