I have a 2003 yamaha 225 4 stroke that was run low on oil. When the low oil alarm went off it was refilled with oil to the proper level immediately, however the alarm continues to sound after a few minutes of running at low rpm (<2500). After slowing, the audible alarm silences but the visual alarm remains flashing. Did I mess anything up? Plan on changing oil and filter today and hope for the best.

If it's been awhile since you replaced the oil filter that maybe where your problem is.

Re: low oil level alarm

there is no low oil level alarm just a low pressure, however a high pressure will trigger the audible as well. once the visual indicate is set the key must be cycled to reset the visual.
the ECU is looking for a feedback voltage at any given RPM and compares it to an internal map. if the feedback voltage falls outside the mapped range for any given RPM(high or low) the alarm sounds.
