I just bought a 1990 19' Lowe Center Console with a 110 Johnson O/B from the original owner. Like on most used boat, I had to rewired the gages and toggle switches and are now all are up to par. I had a shake down cruise today at the local lake which was trouble free other than when cruising. The water was like glass without any breeze. I had it up on plane at 3400 rpm and it felt like it was "slapping" the water like the motor was running erratic but the motor actual wasn't. Then I decided to run it WOT where it smoothed out without the slap but had to back off because of the excessive speed. (BTW I'm an old retired fart :p). I still need to play with it but I'm certain that it's just a matter of adjusting the trim.

Just curious, anyone else have one of this model?

And oh yeah, I bought it to troll for Striper out in the SF bay and Delta then plan on taking it up to the Sierra Nevada lakes for an occasional Trout fishing.

Congrats on your new boat Seon, and welcome to the Lowe family! I hope your boat gives you years of trouble free enjoyment.

Are you talking about porpoising? Is that what your boat was doing? I assume your boat has power trim and tilt? I have to play with mine (like all boats) to find your sweet spot where it is not porpoising and not plowing too much water either, somewhere in between..........Irv964

Irv964, thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes, porpoising. I called the previous owner that night who said that I needed to play with the power trim. Which echo's your suggestion.

I'll be headed out tomorrow to the Delta for the maiden fishing voyage trolling for Stripers.

Again, thanks.

How are you making out with the porpoising Seon? Have you tried moving some weight to the front of the boat? This may help? Good Luck.......Irv964

Re: Lowe 19' Center Console

Irv, I went out with a friend last Friday trolling for Stripers. We set out gear up front and after 15 minutes, our 1st 24"er was in the livewell filled with water. The more fish placed in the livewell, the smoother it ran over the slightly choppy water. I think I bought a "keeper" ;). Thanks for asking.

The next thing I'll have to do is fabricated and install a T-top for a little shade :p

Re: Lowe 19' Center Console

Looking to repower the motor from the existing 110hp Johnson VRO to a 4 Stroke. This boat is rated for a 120hp but being that the 4 stroke motors weighs more than the 2 stroke, I'm thinking a 90hp Honda. I don't know the dry weight of the boat and uncertain if the 90hp is strong enough to get it up on plane and cruise the Delta, Bay and lakes?
Does anyone know the weigh on this boat?
