I have a 1970 Chrysler 55hp
I seen it run, but the guy told me "someone" replaced the waterpump and messed something up and there's water in the gear case.
I finally got around to looking at the outboard. I removed the lower end and started the disassembly. I'm amazed at the simplicity of the gear housing.
Anyways, I'm ordering my seals and wrote down the misc parts to get in town.
I'm wondering about one seal.
It looks like the impeller was replaced. The rubber is still flexable, an no score marks on the "knobs".
On the impeller housing, where the water tube would sit in. There looks to be a rubber grommet. There's a small tear in it. Not all the way down, more like horazontal tear.
Does the lower end kit come with this grommet?
Also on the lower gear case there is a gasket. I'm told by many people that this gasket is long gone. I'm fortunate that mine is still there and in tact. I have made a scan of it, just incase.
I would like to replace this. What can I make this out of?
