I have a 2003 40 hp 4 stroke I purchased. When I put it in neutral It acts as it still in gear a little. I adjusted the shifter leakage all the way still the same. Took shifter cable lose, put in neutral still in gear. I think what happen was they put a water propeller in and got the shifter out of alignment. needs some help on realignment. Please---------Help --------Me

Thanks

Re: Lower unit alignment

When I bought the motor it was like that. It never went all the way in in neutral unless I went a little past neutral. The inpellor was installed before I purchased it. This may help. It was a tiller handle, I converted it to the remote start .with the tiller handle, it still did the same before I installed the remote start. woulded lock in neatrual It goes in f and reverse alright but in neautral
it cranks but the I have to move it a little past neutral or it
grinds as if its still in reverse . gears in lower unit might not be align up need help as the how to

Thanks
