lower unit conversion chart

I searched my question on here before asking and cannot come up with the solution. I have a 1989 28 hp johnson and need a lower unit, I need a conversion chart of some sort to locate one. Somewhere I found info that a 25 to 28 hp ser. no 0432812 20 in. long shaft 1989 to 1996 will work, and I was hoping someone here could verify this info or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance as always.

start going thru the parts lists like everyone else.

Correct.-----These 28 HP " specials " were 30 HP models marketed to clear surplus lower units / midsections.-----So any of those 1989 to 1996 will work.-----Changing a long lower unit to fit on a short midsection is easy.----Your location ?
