Does anyone have a tip for removing a stubborn lower unit drain plug. I am trying to use the thickest, widest screw driver I can but groove is worn to where I cannot get the plug to turn.

A hand impact driver the one you hit with a hammer has worked well for me.

This is what you are looking for. The bit rotates when you whack it with a hammer. At the same time, the hammer blow keeps the bit from jumping out of the slot. A must-have tool if you are going to be working on outboards.

The screw needs to be replaced.-------When my impact driver is too far away I just use a small punch on one side of the slot.----Usually loosens them up.------You are going into your goody bin for a replacement screw yes ?

well, low tech -- vise grip on the blade of a screwdriver for leverage. Dremel with cutting disc to deepen slot.
