lower unit hydraulics

the 4 hoses that connect the cylinders to the main unit have the outside rubber cracked and peeling in places, how much are these little hoses, and if I replace them is the unit self bleeding? the white clothe shows but no leaks. 79 140 hp merc with io thanks bob

Ayuh,... You can look them up here at iboats to see what they cost,...

And,.. Yes, the system is self-bleeding... Just cycle it a few times,+ top off the oil...

No need to bleed if all you are doing is replacing the short lines.It will bleed itself as the fluid passes through the pump.If the white cloth is showing it's time to change.Best replacement is braided stainless lines.Probably about $100.00 a set.You"ll never have to change them again.

Check out go2marine.com. When you get there search Mercruiser Tilt and Trim or type in this part number.If all 4 of your lines are the same you will probably need Sierra Part #18-2116.They have the lowest price around.
