I know there is a lot of threads on this subject already, but it's not letting me search.

What is the right lower unit oil to get for an OMC 4.3? I know it takes 64 oz.

Also what kind of motor oil do I use? and can I just get a oil filter from schucks?

Thanks

There are probably several brands that will work as well, but you can't go wrong with Evinrude/Johnson HPF Pro. That's BRP's replacement for the old Hi-Vis. Any BRP dealer should have it.....runs about $9.00/qt.

my outdrive took more then 64oz, but mine is a 5.0 omc cobra. dont know if there's much of a difference.

The book says 75w-90 gearcase oil. and you can get delco oil at a boat store for the engine. :)

Re: Lower Unit Oil?

I went to Boaters World and got Mercury Synthetic(drive). On the way back I stopped at Williams Oil Filter Service Company and bought Baldwin filters for everything I own. I bought the oil at Walmart.... Shell Rotella 15W-40. and I use that in everything I own.

The Cobras hole different amounts of oil. (my 87 King Kobra holds about 108oz)

Oh NO!:eek: Another oil thread!:eek::eek::eek:
