I am ready to splash the boat tomorrow......:)

I checked the shifting w/o the engine running and it seems to slightly grab CW in rev and CCW in fwd as it should but not real good, I can get it to slip. I started the engine and it seems to shift fine into fwd and rev.

Question is..........is my dog clutch on its way out? Seems like the cable is adjusted out unless I can get more travel in both directions.......

Stiil going in tomorrow...........!!!

Re: Lower Unit Problem or Cable Adjustment?

while mine is performing better than yours on land. ie i get prop lock ccw and cw. i felt my shift slide was more sloppy than it was last time i looked at it. i questioned whether or not i'd be hip. splash it. see how it works under load. mine seems to perform fine even though it didn't feel quite proper to me. maybe yer in the same boat? a splash will tell though i'd think.
fwiw, i stayed pretty close to the ramp for the first splash. just in case i was hosed...;)

that said. how'd it shift when the drive was off. manually shifting it via the coupler? ya get lock then? if so, i'd think the first place to look would be the shift cable.

now lets see what the pros think.... ;)
hope ya have a great season fbt...

Thats what the slot is for in the shift link arm...to adjust reverse, fw is done by turning the brass cylinder on the cable.

I'm always nervous the first few times out........seems like I need to gain confidence each season...........guess I'm paranoid.
