lower unit question 1962 40hp

There is what looks to be a small port or some sort of vent on the side of my lower unit that leaks a little bit of oil each time I use the boat. My guess is that it vents when the oil heats up but I'm not sure and I knew someone here knows whats up. The oil is good no water in it.

I think you might be talking about a drain to empty the exhaust housing. The oil is probably unburnt oil from the exhaust, a normal thing.

You put oil in the gas. Every drop of that oil goes through the engine. Some is burned (smoke) and some just goes right through and out the exhaust. Guess what you are seeing!?!
