I have a problem with the cooling (no tell tale and motor heats up and shuts down). I have checked the tstat and it is okay. I tried running without the tstat and no water. Anyway I think I need to replace the impeller but I need some help here. I have tried to remove the L/U but it will not disengage. I have removed the three bolts and it will drop down about 1" but that's all. Can someone help me out here? I am trying to get it running so I can sell it. It has less than 100 hours on it and is in beautiful shape but I do not want to sell it in this condition.

Thanks so much,
Dan

If you puchase a manual,it will be a great help, and bolster your asking price if included in the sale.

But you need to disengage the shift rod. It's located behind the electric starter if you have one, under the carb, port side.Same location if not electric start.

DHP

I do not want to purchase a manual just to do this. If I was going to keep it I would consider it, however I just lost my job and I am trying to liquidate some assets. I have not used the boat and motor much in the past several years so that is why I want to sell it. Now, if you would be so kind as to further explain. I have found a clip attahed to the shaft and I popped it loose but now there is a pin with cam lobes on it that has become loose and I can not get it back in the bore. Also the shaft is still not disconnected from this pin. How do I proceed?

Thank you so much and please understand my position. I usually do purchase repair/maintanence manuals but I never had the need for one for this motor previously and now that I do not plan on keeping it I would much rather not spend the money, which I really don't have either.

Thank you,
Dan

Dan,
I don't think I can walk you thru this job as there are a lot of little ways to go wrong.Even a washer on that shift shaft that falls off,and will cause reverse lock (tilt) problems.

Take a look at DOUGRUSSELL.COM.I think you can print out an exploded view of these parts.

Also maybe your library has the repair manual.I seldom suggest this because I really don't know.

DHP

I got it! It turned out to be a pretty simple operation once I got the shift rod disengaged.

Thanks,
Dan
