Hello all, its been a while since i have been on here my 98 115 intruder has been running well but i have a slight water intrusion in lower unit so i decided to reseal it when i do the water pump. I ordered the seal kit while waiting for it to arrive i found out that i had orderd the prop shaft seal some time back just forgot about it so i installed it it was the single double lip seal just like the factory had installed when the seal kit arrived i noticed it came with two single lip seals can i leave the single double lip seal i already installed? , also when taking out the prop bearing carrier i notised it had no rtv on the back flange and no gasket sealing compound around the oring area. I am the original owner of this motor and it has never been to the shop i do my own work , the shop manue says to use rtv on the back flange and gasket sealing compound around o ring.

Thans very much

Re: Lower unit seals

If the double lip seal is okay, leave it in. ANY question, replace it. The manual is correct for sealants. Follow it.
