lower unit update

Just got boat back with new lower unit. it is an 18ft fourwinns fish n ski with a 2001 150 johnson ob.<br /><br />2 questions please:<br /><br />1. with old lower unit, engine got apporx 5000 rpm and 48 to 49 mph. with new l/u same prop. it get 4700 rpm and 47 mph. is new l/u geared differently maybe, why the difference in performance?<br /><br />2. with new l/u when running there is a splash of water that comes in the boat enough to wet anyone sitting in the rear seats against the transom. this didn't happen before? any idea's?

Did they for any reason change the engine height?

I didn't check height or angle before bringing in for new l/u. i spoke to then and they said they did not change anything, but i will try to raise the engine a notch and see what happens. <br /><br />thanks
