Lower Unit Wrong Oil Plug

Hi Everyone Thank You for taking the time to look at this post

i Have 1991 120hp Force L-Drive i recently changed universal joint housing this is my first boat ever that went fine finished everething started it everething went ok until i went to change the oil in lower unit i pulled both plugs on the bottom well guess what one of those i think were holding the shift shaft my friend was inside while oil was draining so he was messing with the throttlr not its stuck in forward and its not shiffting anyway i put the plug back in no shift nothing played with it for hours nothin what are my solutions please help anyone GREATFULY APPRECIATED:mad:

If this was a regular lower unit which I think it is similar in that regards the only way to fix this is to take the lower apart. My guess you pulled part 42and 43 and you messed up parts 35 and 36. The good news is you wont need new parts except maybe for a new seal kit. You can try and buy some car picks and use a flashlight to line everything back up again. If that dont work you will have tear it apart. When this is done get some clear RTV and cover that bolt with the stuff to help remind you to leave that screw alone.

Yes that is exactly what i pulled but as far as 35 36 its still attached together. in the picture i looked at it i dont know how to attach 36 and 96 together we tryed for few hours my frieand and i he is machanic not for boats tho and no luck so i was thinking maybe taking it to the marine specialist but thing is with than most of them wont work on l-drive even tho i took the LU out thank you ( anyone knows whom is the LU made by):mad:
