I have a 6hp mercury lATE 80S and notice leaking a little lower unit fluid out from the prop hub, it has a thru the hub exhaust, I noticed it after i hit something in the river i was in, it took a chunk out of the prop now its leaking, could it be prop seals gone bad from the impact Thanks Goose Master

Could be seals, but ck to see if the shaft is bent

Hello Laddies, Took it to a shop man did I do some damage, bent the prop shaft props no good seals and bearings gone, carrier and follower, to put it short they have to rebuild the whole lower unit including water pump, thanks for the info

At the very least get a second opinion and always get a quote in writing before giving the go-ahead. May be better off trying to find a good used one instead of repairing yours. If you decide to repair yours, tell the mech that you want to see all the damaged parts.

Thanks Rod, saw all the old parts lower unit shot but top end like brand new so I think worth the investment, the motor is like 1200.00 new so 600.00 wont be so bad thanks for the advice as always Thanks Goosemaster
