I got a fantastic deal on an newly rebuilt 175 yamaha thru a friend. the only problem is it appears to have a 20' shaft and i have a 25" transom. Can i use a jack plate to accomidate my transom? Has anyone done this?Or should i be looking into a shaft extension kit?

my boat;

87 21 ft chris craft

purpose;

fishing, diving, no skiers, not a speed demon

bay engineering makes 5" extension kits for most V yamahas, you drop that 20" motor 5" on a jack plate and you will post about hydrolocking the lower cylinders.
