My Lowrance Elite 5 led back light has gone out. I can see working by shining light on it but no back light....All updates are done and its over 6 years old so no help from Lowrance. I can see setting for light and it is at bright 10>and have done the double tap on power button and did hard and soft reset... Wondered if anyone has ever tried to fix one?

Used to fix lots of back lights on laptops and a few FF'ers back in the day, could be as simple as a bad connection needing re-solding in that area or the inverter(usually 200V'ish electrolytic cap dries out and takes it down) is T.U.

Sometimes the EL panel/florescents can go but usually its the above. If you crack it open to have a peak, be advised ya might be breaking a sealed where they've filled the unit with an inert gas (older bottomline FF units did anyway)

Snap me a picture of the guts if you open it.......Have a meter and/or a scope?
