Mag plate to magnetic???

Never heard of such a thing. You must have the only one with that problem.

Or somebody did some crazy stuff to it. I came here to look outside the box. I repeat myself, the motor starts on a dime and runs perfect with the timing plate advanced. If the issue was the coils hitting then the plate,would advance turning the flywheel backwards. It does not.

If the motor is electric start and you have a charging system then the flywheel with 6 magnets is correct...... The rope start flywheel has 4 magnets.....Both flywheels have 2 sets of timing marks marked R and E.....It has been a few years but I think it is the R you use with both flywheels..... Also there are 2 different driver coils... Yes those magnets are strong and you need to pull with both hands to get it off.... The photo is of an electric start flywheel.... The rope start does not have magnets to the outside of each "E" mark.... And of course there is no ring gear on the rope start flywheel....
