Moeller tanks are great,....

But I think I would try to get a 50 gallon tank under the floor versus the tanks that mount on the side of the boat,...

Just to keep as much weight as low as possible,....

Hey, I'll be following your engine discussions closely as mine is going to get a thorough going over this winter as well. Fuel lines, carbs, the normal stuff I guess. I would be very interested what you find out about the VRO. I would like to add it to mine if it can be reliable.

Well ol dauntless woulda liked to commit suicide and lay on the bottom for eternity, ahh Ya ok she don't leak a bit, wink wink. My goodness one and only one ride in that heap!!!!!!!!!!! Any who, the Islander is gonna fly with that 150,:D 38 to 39 mph gps, with a half full hull of water and not running max rpms, was getting 4500 rpms, guessing it should go higher. I think once I am done restoring the 150 she will be mint! Damn strong runner in the powerband for sure! anyways pics in a bit, i'll be back.

And check to confirm prop is correct, even though it came on the motor, might not be correct

Good to hear it ran mostly like a champ though, water logged hull & all! And yeah, the tin should be plenty motivated w/ that 150!

Motor specs are out there, as well as proper prop specs, so shouldn't be hard to figure out WOT rpm range. Happy fact finding ;)

Leaked like crazy, two holes drilled through splash well into the bilge compartment that I did not notice, somebody wanted to make sure the broken bilge pump had something to try to do!
Local sticks to somewhat plug em

All in all good test run, we survived and made it home with a trail of water, no fire and a running motor!! Bye Bye Dauntless, your parts will go to a good home and you will get to rest in peace!;)

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

sorry not the trailer! Slowly taking some goodies off, gotta get the trailer empty before deciding on that. Recovered a fuel tank tonight, aluminum and a little to big to fit the Islander I am afraid, Bummer for sale though! Popped the bow rail off, I like it a lot, all welded stainless. Going to try to fit if, like the bow pulpit that goes with. Compass looks like it will work, gps or not still a good idea to have. Want to have Dauntless stripped and gone this week. Cell phone pics, not the best or most tonight!

Rectangle ,no hump in the bottom, no plate on it, think it works out to 50 gallons

Man that tank would be awesome for the Islander, you sure it won't fit?

Ya stringers are 24" apart, tank is 29", may have a plan yet, not sure if it will work but I am going to scope it out.
Made a bunch of unseen progress today. Ol Dauntless will move on tomorrow, one week from purchase. A new soft resting place is in order!
Motor stand is built, all saveable googies are in hand and it is time to part ways. Pics from progress tomorrow!
Mag out!!!!

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

MD - with the way you bend aluminum, could you spread the stringers by 5" to make room for the tank? Since the bracket grew on the back the stringers are now only for floor support and no more motor support/tie-in.

Bye-bye Thumper. I mean Dauntless.
