I launched myboat 1st time in 3 years, ran engine occasionally (with earmuffs) prior to. anyway had trouble starting under pressure like it was flooded or not getting gas. finally started. then stalled about 15 mins later. Very hard to start again. primer ball was hard each time. Then when underway it started to make a sound like not getting gas then stalled agian. Bulb was soft no gas at alll. I'm gonna change Plugs, water separater/ fuel filter and I want to change 1st gasket and screen in fuel filter. Should I do more? 2nd gasket? It runs fine with the muffs like I said. I put stabalizer in fuel also. Thanks

Sounds like something is wrong with you gas tank or gas line. Check and see if your gas tank is venting. I'm no expert, others will come here and help you :)

What motor are your running? First thought after storage is always fuel contamination (water condensation). Tank vented (vent open)?

What kind of motor. Was the ball flat sucked flat, how it runs on muffs just tells you it runs do not use as a diagnostic tool. 3 year old fuel needs to be replaced. The ball should get soft after it runs thats normal. Did you try pumping the ball while this was happening. Also running the motor on muffs occasionally during long storage is worse than letting it sit.

I have 1987 Johnny 88 SPL brand new gas tank, and brand new gas, by the way That's 2 votes for venting issue

Ball was soft the 2 last times it stalled, I had my Daughter pump it a few times, and struggle sound stopped and ran perfect back to marina. yes I believe it is venting issue but also a combination of changing a few maintence items fuel wise

If the tank doesn't vent the tank and ball get sucked in usually the ball gets sucked flat

Look for signs of critters -- mud wasps and such. They can get through the prop, up exhaust ports on the leg, into the air horn and carbs.

well, likely due for an impeller change, and might pull of the carbs and clean them (disassemble, soak, poke and spray). (You asked....)

ok will do, do you suggest changing any other stuff, other than what I listed?

Change the fuel filter. Next time it happens, loosen the gas tank filler cap (if you gas tank isn't too full). I think your gas tank isn't venting right :)
