Yes, the engine is removed to replace the exaust pipe.The manuals for your application are in the Adults Only section. Suggest you download yours before starting work.

was wondering is that the same answer for a 1976 120, mine blows water and exhaust at idle, and stops after underway,, i was told this was normal by a newbe?

Ayuh,... Nothin' Normal about exhaust,+ water Inside the barge,... Ever....

I think you need manual #1....
