Re: Major Leak!

The gasket was was torn in half and no rtv or anykind of sealent

You should NEVER use sealant on that gasket. And that gasket isn't really the one that will allow the water in - it is the big rubber "o-ring" type of square gasket.

Re: Major Leak!

It is the big round gasket in the picture below. Kind of a dumb question... but did your outdrive have that gasket in place?

Re: Major Leak!

You need to recheck your bellows, thoroughly... The water got in somewhere, and the broken gasket isn't it...

Re: Major Leak!

ok so the leak is non above. On the transom mount on the outside next to the driveshaft bellow is a peanut size hole in the metal. water is coming in from there then pouring in from the steering linkage part if transom. Any ideas on how to fix or fill the hole?

the hole is located in the red circle area. thanks

Re: Major Leak!

I've never seen damage there. You can always try some JB Weld... but I would have to ask how the hole got there. Impact? Corrosion?

Also - the area you have highlighted in yellow - is that corroded up with metal missing? If so, you will probably be better served looking to buy a complete used transom assembly. :( Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

No just the red circle. I hijacked that pic from somewhere and the yellow was already there. I would think it was corrosion. I'm posting two pics i took today...

As to how it got there I have no idea. The boat is new to me. Lets just say the seller wasn't on the up and up!
