OutboardJim,

When you get a chance and the facts are straight I hope you can tell us what happened and why.

Can you also recommend a site or something that talks about how the grid works and why the chain reactions happen?

I think it was Sloopy experminting with his inventions. He was warned not to plug in his blower driven outboard to the grid. :D

Re: Major Power Outages in Northeast

A very smart  MSNBC reporter (Goodman) just advised "most people don't live near where they work" and that "they should expect delays today getting to work"

And who said she was just a pretty face?

I just left work yesterday and Half the town went out. Made it home in the normal time Green Brook must have been right on the edge. Turned on the cbs news and found out this went from NYC to Detriot(sp?). That it was not a terror incident, and Bloomberg say that power should be restored in about 3-6 hours. Woke up this morning turned on the news and noted that some of the City is still w/o power.

I haven't seen a post from Kenny so your probably right he was charging people to get off the Island. I hope at least $50.00 per capitalism at work. :p

Some Democrats blamed the Bush administration for not having more closely watched the deregulation.
“I believe the federal government has a responsibility to see this doesn’t happen,” Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., told MSNBC.

will you please take her back to Arkansas!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't hubby Bill in office when CA did deregulation and the report was submitted about the substandard power grid.

I also thought that it was the magority of democrats that just eliminated funding from last years budget for an upgrade to the power grid.

So where does Hillary get off claiming the sky is falling and its the current administrations problem.

Glad all concerned parties are ok. I spoke with a family member who lives in Upstate NY shortly after I heard about this and she had no idea what was happening since she was without power. She was freaking out thinking that it was terrorist related. It made me glad I called to check on her and put her fears to rest.

I've since heard that the lightening strike theory may not be true. Someone I know that lives close to the plant said there wasn't even a storm in the area at that time. Whatever the cause, they need to fix this before it happens again.

Greetings from the NE,

Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend!

The BLACKOUT of 2003 was truely an adventure.

For all you guys who thought I was making a killing ferrying people around, all I have to say is I wish I was able to do so, but it took almost 5 hours to get home from NYC, and it would have taken another 2 hours to get back with the boat.

I wish I could have done so, because I would have been able to charge people at least $200 for a ride across the East River to Queens or Brooklyn!

Oh well!

Other than that, I had my power restored Friday morning about 5AM. :)

Kenny
