Got a 2002 115 Yammy 4 stroke. 17.5 Smokercraft
Bought the boat 6 months ago.
Has 275 hours on the meter and runs great.
WOT right on the high side of 6000.
Here's how I use it.
Run out to my fishing grounds which takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on where I'm going. Always run it between 4000 to 5500 depending on weather.
Then troll on my 8 horse for a 2-3 hours then run back to the ramp.
Go home and hook up the hose to the flushing attachment for fifteen minutes.
Then, because I worry about not getting fresh water throuout the motor I hook up the muffs and run for about 5 minutes.
Just started doing this step about my last 4 times out.
Anyway just noticed upon checking the oil last night that it looks like my coffee does with extra cream. No gas smell. Also above the high level mark which it has been but not by much and always looked like oil until now.
So of course I'm going to change the oil and filter now and keep my eye on it but just wondering if I should be operating diferently then I am or if maybe I shouldn't be doing the flush with the muffs or maybe I'm doing too short of a flush with the muffs.
Or maybe it's a mechanical failure somewhere.
Maybe change the thermostat but I think I Mr. Rodbolt wasn't too keen on that solution.
Done the search and read a lot but wanted to get any more comments I could.
I live here in the Seattle so am fishing Puget Sound so water is never warm.
Last couple times out I had to scrape the windshield on the truck so it's been chilly if that could be a factor.
Thanks and cheers.
I keep the boat in my garage which is partially insulated and never gets below 45 or so.
