mako twin 200's battery diagram

i bought a mako with twin outboards, there guy i bought the boat from took the batteries with him and some of the cables, i got a good deal on the boat so i didnt think much of it. there is 2 dual battery switches one on each side of the inside of the center console. the only cables left are 2 pos on 1 neg on the one side and on pos and one neg on the other side, i thing there were atleast 3 batteries on the boat, how would i go about rewiring the batteries, thanks

Sounds like he had exactly three batteries in the boat, which is why there are two positive connections on one switch and only one on the other. Trace the wiring as far as it goes to see what each of the switches was feeding. He might have had one battery feeding one engine and the other two feeding the other engine plus "house power."

ill take a look at it when i go outside if it ever stops raining, i might have to replace all the battery cables anyway since he said he was getting enought power to the motors to start them, we had to use a battery right to the motors and they start fine, i think theres a short somwhere, thanks a lot

i gotta better look today, there is one dual switch on the port side and one on the starboard side,the starboard switch has 2 pos leads going to the switch and one pos comes out and goes to the starboard side engine, the other pos lead comes out and goes to the port side switch, the port switch has one pos lead coming in from a battery and one coming in from the other switch and one pos lead coming out and goes to the port motor. sound confusing but how so i hook up the batteries up so its all right?

also consult the 06 marine tech guide. not only is the correct wiring diagram there it will show you how to wire the built in battery isolator,if the motors are later than 1990, to the third or house battery. I think the rigging guide has the diagrams as well.

both motors are 1988 yamaha 200, i will take a look at it this weekend if the rain ever stops, thanks for the help also

1988 wont have isolators, however the yamaha rigging or tech guide will still have the correct diagram for twins with 3 batteries.

alrigth i hooked up the batteries and all the electronics work but im only getting the starboard side motor to click, it wont turnover and i cant get the motors to go up or down and the port side motor wont do anything at all, any idea what it could be, thanks erik
