Also don't forget your safety chains, transom straps, AND BY ALL MEANS THE PLUG Also a bilge pump might not be a bad idea. Preferably one that pumps solids

I don't know if it should be mandatory, but I like to know where people are. It makes it a little bit easier when you are discussing things with them. Plus, if they are talking about a great place by where they live, I would like to know where they live. I would not mind travelling to see a great site. I love Tampa, and would tell anyone to come down here to visit, although some people are not too fond of saltwater. However, it is also nice to know when someone is close to you, there are many great people on this forum, and it would be nice to meet a few in person.

Is that a invite to come down to Tampa this winter and go boating with you when the woodstove is humming and the snow is blowing up here??!!

I thought is was a good idea. People ask for help and their location plays a key role in how may questions are answered. If location was there, it would help get the appropriate answer quicker without having to ask for it...

However, if the Mods and administrators feel differently, then while I may not agree, I support their decision.

What is everyone afraid of? When someone is describing adventures and their is no location I always wonder where they are. This is a forum with people from all over the world. It really does make it more interesting when you know where they are. If you are a fugitive from the IRS, I doubt if they are looking for you here. As far as spell check, if you went to a good catholic grade school like me, where the nuns whacked your knuckles with a ruler, you don't need it.

Hey, I will go boating about 360 days a year (spare five days for possible hurricanes), anyone who can pitch in on gas and daily supplies can come with me. I will show them a great time, whether they like to hang out and drink, go fishing, be in solitude, whatever it may be. Everyone knows how to contact me. .

No it should not be required.

If you need to know where someone lives due to posting a winterizing or summer running question maybe the poster should list their climate conditions. I certainly would not be looking up the weather conditions or laws where someone lives to verify their advice to be relevant to my question. I listed my location because it doesn?t matter to me that everyone knows where I live.

Maybe posters should let everyone know what their climate and laws are in their area before asking a question. NOT

Privacy of posting or not posting your location should be an option.

Oh it was 100 degrees yesterday here in Placerville CA. Great day for boating.

I don't like anything being required. Having said that, It would be nice, I'd like to set up a get together here in the South East this coming spring, it be a lot easier if I could see who all was from this area.

I am sitting on the pot, so technically I have clothes on, it is just that my shorts are around my knees.
