Manifold drain????????

I have a 92 OMC 3.0 HO. When I remove the manifold drain plug and even remove the drain fitting, even after punching wire in the opening, I can't find any kind of hole. It just feels like a smooth flat surface inside the hole. I always put antifreeze in the manifold and block, so no problems. I would guess that the manifold casting was never drilled out where the drain hole is.

Has anyone ever run into this?????

Why not just pull the hose that comes from the thermostat to drain the manifold? The hose enter the manofold at its the lowest point right?

The hose is on an elbow. Top of elbow is highest point. Even with the elbow out, I doubt if it would be lowest point. Antifreeze poured into the elbow takes the worry out of the winterize.

Any way to fill the manifold with something to confirm that there was never a hole drilled? I don't know anything about OMC, but in my line of work, I run in to that kind of crap all the time. Or, is it possible that where you are sticking the wire in, there is a baffle plate or elbow that feels like it's a dead end?
