Manual stop for 90 hp force without key

Hi, I recently got a bayliner with a 1990 90 hp Force motor. My mechanic has worked it for me so that I can start it, as it came without a key. The only question is, concerning the stop. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to wire up something for a motor stop. P.S. My mechanic works for me on cars, not motors, and is not as familiar with this motor. He wants to make sure he wires it up correctly without frying the coils or packs.

my little pontoon with a 25 hp johnson has a set up like that ( i did not install it )...push buttons for the starter & choke; big red button that when pushed down kills the motor & will allow to run when pulled up....its pretty slick....i can give you the email of the guy who installed it if you would like. - pm please if interested.

Look for the White wire or the Black with Yellow Stripe wire at the connection terminal strip (there should only be one or the other, if there are both, don't proceed till we figure out which one) Careful, there's also a Yellow with Black stripe that goes to the choke solenoid. Verify that you get the correct one (BLACK with yellow stripe or just plain WHITE.

Shorting that wire to ground disables the ignition. This is the wire that both the keyed switch and lanyard switch use to kill the motor.

Edit: If your motor is a 1990A, it will definitely be a white wire, else B or beyond, still could be black/yellow stripe.
