Hey
I have a 1990 Marinar 135hp.
Whn i turn the key the motor beeps, beep beep beep . . and will start, but still beeps. When I try to throttle it will only go walking speed.
I went to a mechanic and he told me tht its the oil injection tht has failed and to disable it, cut the blue wire tht will stop the beeping and injecting the oil. So I did this and the beeping stopped and seemed to rev ok with water running - note i did premix into the fuel 50-1. Now next time i launched the boat the beeping started again . . and also the boat wouldnt go faster than walking speed on full throttle. SOOOO WEIRDDDD . . .
Why? What is the problem? Anyone else had the same thing happen? please help as it may be simple/cheaper than taking into the shop. The guy also said its a saftey cut off to limit the speed so you can get home off the water, thats why its limiting the speed but another guy i called said this model/brand of this era doesnt have tht function and its another problem.......SO CONFUSED and frustrated . . . any help appecriated. THANKS! Mike
PS Any easy way to stop the oil injection set up and just premix....and a way to bypass alarm tht may be limiting speed?

remove the oil warning sensor should be a brown square box, I read yesterday that the oil tank needs to be ful after the sensor goes off to reset it i belive hook the wire back up and fill the tank to the top

Maxz695 almost has it right, the mechanic is totally wrong. There is a sensor in reserve tank on the motor. The remote tank is pressurized by crankcase pressure via a check valve on the block. The reserve tank needs to be full or the alarm will sound. With the engine running and a full remote tank of oil, remove the cap on the reserve tank and let if fill then replace the cap. If the beeping stops that was the problem. If the beeping continues then the low oil sensor in the reserve tank cap is bad. Replace it. If the tank fails to fill then check all the oil hoses for holes or cracks. The leak will be evident. If there are no leaks then replace the check valve in the block.

There is only one low oil sensor and that is the one in the reserve tank cap on the motor.

If, after replacing the oil sensor or the check valve, the beeping continues, replace the alarm module. I've only seen one bad one in my time and it was damaged by a short circuit and not a routine failed.

Thanks guys, so fast.
Will my motor cut to walking speed because of this ?
Also what about the plastic gear internally tht pumps the oil? could this have failed?
thanks
Mike

i stripped down a 40 HP 4 cylinder oil injected engine that died due to lack of oil i still have the flywheel stator 3 of 4 coils the oil pump i wouldn,t give to the Bioootch that owes me money yes the pump could be bad. I would think and hope that the engine would go to a crall speed to stop it from seizing that would be a great feature but I don,t know the answer to this question follow the captains advise thats why he,s a captain. He help me help myself maybe he can help you too

I guess it,s better to be almost right than not quite right, and thats better than being not right at all. I love to give a little help until the FLEET Shows up and saves the day

I don't think your engine has rpm reduction, when you say "walking speed" at full throttle do you mean that you are able to turn 5000 rpms and your boat will only go walking speed? If so I would check and see if your prop is spun. Need some more info.

There is absolutely no linkage or control of the motor from the oil system, except maybe the oil pump VRO linkage could be jamming the throttle linkage. If you disconnect it, and disconnect all the wires to the oil alert module, only the oil system will be affected. If you choose to premix instead of repair the system, then remove the oil pump and replace it with the proper block off plug to retain the bushing behind the crankshaft gear.

If your engine won't go, it's hurt, maybe bad. If you keep pushing a big 2 cycle engine when it balks, it usually responds by destroying something important and internal.

It starts like normal, launch the boat and then when go to full throttle, it only goes walking speed on the water . . . not revving excessivly, but whn in neutrel u can rev it and its fine . . . so weird. Might have to bite the bullet and it take it into the shop . . . .$$$$$ = :(

You can rev it off the top on 1 or 2 cylinders out of the water, but when it has to turn the prop, it won't do it.

You have major problems. Diagnostics start with a compression test and a spark test, and go on to the fault from there.

If you're starting the engine without water supply, you've wrecked the water pump.
