I have been trying to decide if I need a marine radio. I have a scanner, and would like to tune in to listen to learn how these radios may be able to help. No one has been able to tell me the frequencies of the numbered channels. I know this is not an engine question that I enjoy so much here. But I hoped someone may know the actual frequencies for the numbered channels. Any ideas?
Thanks :)

VHF FM radios range from 156.050 MHz to 161.975 MHz.

Before using one please learn the proper protocal...it's not a CB, there are rules and specific channels for specific things. ;)

Thanks Tony, as you can see. I did not run out and buy one and key--up to find out how to use it. I would like to monitor frequencies to learn proper usage. I know everyone appreciates new users to learn how first. Do you know which frequency goes with which channel or where I may learn that? Thanks for responding and your input. Always appreciated! :)

Found it (again...I lost where I had put it). Go to http:www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/safetips.htm

and look under marine radios....they give freqs and vhf # to input into a scanner (or on my boat I use a ham radio....not as waterproof but I'm on a rescue squad and we use rescue vhf chanels on the water also...With a ham I cam input all chanels I need).

Here is another great resource brought to you by the US Coast Guard... http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=mtBoater

How about this. Thank you for participating. I doubt you have read the forum rules so I will point one out.
