My marine toilet has about a 5 - 10 gallon storage tank built in directly under the toilet, after that is a manual masticator pump that leads directly overboard. By manual I mean that there is no automatic switch. The masticator is operated by a separate switch in the cabin, not in the bathroom area.
I know that without the masticator the toilet will meet the requirements of the law because of the storage tank. Does this toilet design still need a Y-valve? Will a simple lockable shut-off valve put in after the masticator suffice? Since I do not plan on using the toilet unless I am out on the ocean (I'm currently in Kansas) will capping the masticator be enough for now to meet regulations? The storage area will then have no outlet to the water with a capped masticator pump.
