Sinistre1, thanks for your input. I do realise what kind of boat this is. Essentially it will be used during the camping trips to some local lakes. It seems like lots of people doing just that. If I get more serious with boating, I will definitely try to buy something more substantial.

Re: Mariner 4 vs Sea Eagle 124

I was wondering about this myself.

At a fishing forum I frequent, there was talk about how strong Sea Eagle materials were. I think some guy said he got a sample of material from Sea Eagle before he ordered it and he was not able to pierce through it with a screw driver. I've got pin holes a few times since I bought my Marinner 4. They mostly occurred during the transportation or during setting it up. One time it occurred because I went into some bushes near shore. Anyhow, from how those pin holes looked like and from how other guys were talking about Sea Eagle, Sea Eagle 'sounded' like had much stronger and superior material. I'd be interested to hear, if someone had experience with both boats.

mrdrh99, you can go 4mph with 30lbs? That's all I get with my 55lbs.

Loop that's according to GPS...... my understanding is that all 12v trollers top out around the same on calm water. Waves and wind pick us then it's a different story!

Just got my M4. This thing is heavier than I thought. Material seems to be pretty sturdy. Do you have a good working method of folding it back so it can fit in original bag, or people use 2 bags instead. Also I find the way they offer to check pressure is kind of lame, so I was wondering if there a pressure gauge that will work with boston valves?

I usually keep mine inflated and strap it to the roof rack... But yeah.... It's much easier to manage with 2 bags.... Plus that intex bag is weak.... It'll handle the boat alone pretty well but with the floor the straps will break. I used the intex bag for the boat and a strap around the floor. As far as the pressure I personally have never used the gauge. I just fill it until there is very little give with moderate pressure.
