I have read all over the forum about how the mariner 75 and mariner 90hp are exactly the same? Event the carbs are the same!
Apparently its just the fuel diode that is different, what i would like to know is in order to upgrade her to a 90hp will i need to change the carbs or can i buy the diode and fit that?

Thank you all in advance!

I upgraded my 75HP Mariner to 90HP by replacing the carbs only. It works fine.

Does anyone know how much a set of carbs for a mariner 75 to upgrade it to a 90 would be?

Hi there Adrian,

Upgrading an engine is much more difficult than just uping the carbs. The gentleman that posted and implied that was all he did probably isn't getting from his engine what he thinks. The experts here will agree with me that getting more horses out of your engine can be done...but not without a significant expense. Carb jets, port timing, reeds, etc...are all factors that you must think of before you start tearing into your beloved Mariner. Besides, the resale value of your engine will be shot after an upgrade and it's future reliability will always be in question as well. If it were me, I would trade it in on a 90 hp if it's that important to ya. Just my two cents.
