If you don't find a dealer or shop with a puller and the number is 91-24162 you have the number the 40&44 cu. in. models you can in most cases tear the unit apart remove the pinion nut, place the drive shaft in a vice, heat the unit in the area of the cartridge, then useing a block of hard wood and hammer drive the unit off the cartridge, Use care to not damage the casting.--Bob

fhole440
is that the tool to remove the pump cap? most of the old mark series used a threaded cap as the upper pump housing. the last mark series i restored I had to make my own spanners to remove the pump and propshaft bearing cover nut. was not fun and cost the customer a lot of coins but the tools have been NLA for 20 some odd years.f the pump cap is not removed no mount of beating will remove it. I have had to cut the cap off a few. saltwater will lock them as well as a weld.
thats why I dont mess with them anymore.

Pump cover is removed. So i should heat the lower unit housing and hold the drive shaft in a vice and use a block of wood to hit the housing. Ill try it tonight.

I love those old motors Paul, God help us. Most of our fresh water motors from the 50 & 60s are in better shape than 5 year old saltys--Bob
