- 65,000 recreational boats damaged or lost as a result of Sandy.
- 32,000 boats damaged in NY, 25,000 in NJ, 2,500 in CT
- 6,000 others in various states.

I bought a boat once. It was a wreck and I paid about $100 for it. Tore it down and spent about $2000 fixing it up. Bought a motor to go on it, about $1000 and so I was into it for about $3000 plus my time so let's say $4100 total investment. It's worth about--maybe--$1800 in today's market. So with that, so far, so good.

Lesson learned. Now...maybe when I am retired and have nothing to do...nah...never mind.

Seriously...thanks for the heads up. Sometimes, if someone is building something similar, they can find some good parts for cheep.

Great stuff for rebuilding Tinny's. We'll see if _Bay has a flood of used parts.

Of all those busted up boats, somebody must have gathered up a whole slew of useable parts (outdrives, outboards & gearcases, trim pumps, tabs, etc)... If anyone hears of such a somebody, post it up!
