Well, i acquired a motor from a guy who restored it and used a really nice looking color. A few parts weren't repainted and i'd like to make everything one color.. problem is he told me it was custom mixed and he didn't have a paint code for it. What is the best way to match the color without gue$$ing too much

Easy....... go to your local auto paint store or a good body shop. Many now have color matching equipment technology and have them mix up a batch.

to build on what Bob says...
If you can't take a part/piece that has the paint color by it's self, then haul the whole boat down to the paint store. They have a hand held scanner that can analyze the paint and give them a build sheet. Easy stuff.
