Ok, speedi sleeve installed! Not too bad.. I used a wire wheel to clean up the original seal surface, then emery cloth, and cleaned it all with brake cleaner. I got lucky and found a piece of metal pipe (maybe 2"?) with a coupling on it, and the coupling fit around the speedi sleeve just perfectly. Do you guys think it will be ok to leave the installation flange on the speedi sleeve? Seems it would be out of the way of the seals and not bother anything...

As far as breaking the bearings loose, I managed to get them loose enough to where each bearing spins independently of each other (they were only spinning together as one unit before), so do you guys think that is loose enough?

Seals come in tomorrow, so hopefully she'll be back together soon!

Wow! That looks great! Re-read post #13 where Chris says he leaves the installation flange on, so you look like you are good to go there. As far as the bearings, sounds like they are loosened up enough to start your rolling torque procedure. So frustrating having to wait for parts!!! But looks like you'll have it back together soon. Got your pressure tester ready?

For anyone else having to replace a gearset save the inner spacer on dis-assembly. Install it between the bearings on the new gear,press together like a normal ,and torque to standard gear specs. No need to go through the rolling torque method.
Havent figured out why Merc did what they did. using the inner spacer and tightening the nut works perfectly.Have done multiple upper
unit this way without any issues.

Yep, I noticed Chris did say he left the flange on, I just needed a little extra confirmation. I've read so many different threads on this, they are starting to mesh together, so I forget what I saw on what thread. :boom: So, the flange stays!

I've got most of the parts together for the pressure test. I think I'll use my air compressor and be very careful with the pressure regulator and watchful on the pressure gauge. Should I be testing at 7psi and then at 15psi?

I just use a small hand-pump (like from a bicycle). I just slowly go up to about 15 and then soap-bubble test the seals, and do a decay test for about an hour.
