Hey guys... never mind. My wife is a machinist and explain it's a 1/4- 18 straight pipe thread, makes sense now.

This boat is gonna be the death of me or it's gonna run well after I forget all my automotive rules.

Lower cable Update.....

Tapped out the hole to allow the newer style cable to be installed, moves much better than old one and doesn't trip the interrupt switch. :joyous:

Tried to install the stern drive, but once spline tried to engage was bound up. Removed and tried alignment tool, hitting hard on the top according to witness marks on grease. (History- stern drive was hard to remove originally)

I tried to change the alignment adjusting the front engine mount ( 3.0L 4 cyclinder) but no help up or down. Looking through the gimbal bearing engine spline is low same as witness marks on the grease.Looking at this setup the front adjustment is to adjust for a angular error as the 2 mounts in the rear are fixed.

Just purchased this boat with new installed engine. I found the 2 rear engine mount bolts loose, wondering if this was to account for the misalignment. I am assuming the rear mounts are fixed for the centerline of the crank to the transom unit. Is this correct or can this be adjusted? Any ideas appreciated... trying to get her back on the water

Ayuh,.... Yer correct,.... There's fiber washers, coiled washer inside it, under the mount, 'n the spacer, 'n washer above,....

The pressed-in rubber mounts in the flywheel cover can also fail, 'n need replacin', though not an often thing,.....

Bondo.... been searching for a exploded view of the engine mounts today, no luck. Do you have any info to provide? Would really appreciate it, local guys here don't work on the old stuff.

Today I found I could move the 2 rear mount bolts 1/2", when tightened down it made the alignment worse. Think they left the rear bolts loose to make up for the miss alignment. Just want to make it right a reliable.

Thanks

Bt, that is a nice reference manual very detailed thanks. This is what I was able to find regarding the rear mounts.

I appear to be missing "F" the fiber washer. I have a couple of questions-
- My sterndrive is a MC-1 serial 3418026 , the manual you provided is for Alpha/Bravo. Does the MC-1 use the same parts?
- I tried to search for MC-1 on the Boatfix.com but doesn't come up as a valid website, but your link provided works. Is this a valid website?

I have a challenging time finding parts for my sterndrive. I purchased both the online and hard copy Seloc manuals but they are not much help with part numbers. Do you have any sites with good part exploded views with part numbers?

Thanks,

Andy

You asked about the rear mounts not a manual for the drive, manual 6 should cover the drive . That is still available to download on the net

I have the same problem with most of the manuals linked in this forum. Here is a example when I try to open links, all I get is the cover page with no contents.

Anyone have this problem besides me?

if your using a phone it may not be supported to open.If using AOL, it will not open there , use a different browser
Click the link and when it opens click on the red rectangle
That opens a page with 1-7 on the right and the description on the left
highlight the section on the left and click
it opens that section
