It was a nice day yesterday so I decided to go down to the marina to take the boat out for a hour or so fishing. The boat was parked in its slip ready to go took the tops off loaded my gear put my two fishing buddy's my dogs in the boat started the engine to warm it up went to park the car came back to the boat and it wasn't running. The boat was running great the last time I took it out so I was starting to get worried looking for the reason why it wouldn't start again or even try to fire up then I noticed that someone had sucked every last drop of fuel out of the tank. The marina has a night time watchman and there is someone there just about all the time but somehow I still lost about 80 bucks worth of fuel **** me off and the fact that I wasted about a hour getting some new fuel and priming the fuel lines my fishing trip was cut way to short like I said **** ME OFF

Yup, it happens........ so when was the last time you know there was $80 worth of fuel in there? The day prior, the week prior? $80 equates to about 20 gallons.

I have no sympathy for an outboard owner who has to prime his fuel system....... I do it all the time. Squeeze the bulb and it is usually all that's required. A good way to work out those "pissed off" frustrations.

Take it as a lesson learned and maybe you need to increase your own security..... ad a locking fuel cap? The bad news is.....no one gets out of this world alive!

Maybe the watchman took it. On the bright side, I least you hadn't left the slip yet and then ran out.....

Look at this way. You are lucky enough to have a boat that someone can steal $80 worth of gas from.

A very cheap locking gas cap might be your best bet. Getting upset about scumbag thief's is not worth it. These types of thief's are opportunist, just be one step ahead of them next time.

Ya, think if they would have left like two gallons in the tank. If you didn't notice you might have run dry 3 miles out!

Sometimes I wish the only thing I had to worry about was someone stealing some gas out of my boat or car.

I am sorry would disappointed or upset have been a better choice of words glad I didn't really say how I felt. I wasn't that mad just couldn't believe someone had the time and nerve to do that there is usually someone at the boat slips watching over them. I was just happy I still had a boat to put fuel in.

I probably would have used "ticked". I find myself many a time having to ckeck my emotions and word selection while on these open forums. All the while trying to remember I'm not in the garage or out at the pub with my buddies. Which kind of also makes me laugh when I watch some of the youtube videos people put out and the language that they use. There was one on using a spray gun I started watching and the guy was just disgusting with his so I turned it off. I don't need to watch an instructural video where the guys droppin F bombs ever other word.

Re: **** me off

Definition of P****d: Vulgar slang. Very annoyed angry. If you are a Brit (I am) or a Kiwi or an Aussie that word also means very drunk. TBH when I first moved to the US 13 years ago I was somewhat taken a back by how that word was used so much in normal conversation both face to face, on TV, etc. In the UK, it wouldn't be used in family conversation (depending on the type of family you are of course, where some families use the F word every other word).
Anyhow, I would very angry at whoever stole the gas. No doubt when you find them, you will say.. you cad, you bounder, you plundered my boat of it's life blood, you scoundrel, you. But then again, you may look for other words to use!!LOL

Re: **** me off

The "F" bomb is a "resting word." Its use gives the brain time to think of the rest of the words it wants to use. It is also a habit word, used without thought. While it does have some uses (like when you drop an anvil on your foot--you just don't say "oh, darn"), its over-use implies (to me) either lack of intelligence or lack of vocabulary.

Currently it has lost all of its power. It used to be that well bred women would faint upon hearing it. To today's generation, it is commonplace, with both sexes using it equally and freely.

While this may be a family type forum, I shy away from questionable words out of principle, not out of concern for the youngsters--believe me: After kindergarten, they have heard it all and probably use the words more than you do.

It's naive to think that the world is full of honest people. It's like leaving your house unlocked, then getting angry when you get robbed. If you didn't take steps to protect your property and were stolen from. When this occurs we can really only be frustrated with ourselves.

Locking gas caps and anti-siphon valves have been available on the market for many years. Our good friends here at iBoats have a lovely assortment to choose from.

BTW- If you wouldn't use this language around your mother, grandmother, children or grandchildren............. ;)

Re: **** me off

Some years ago back in the UK, my house then was a town house and you parked on the street. It was before the days of central locking and my car was a coupe with 2 doors. Cars there are RH drive so was parked kerbside with the driver's side in the middle of the street side. Somehow I must have inadvertently forgot to lock the passenger door. The next day, when I got in the car I just had the feeling something was wrong. I looked around and tried to see if anything was missing. Yes there was.
The thieves must have been 'who's turn is it for the brain cell'. The Cassette Player was still in, but they stole the cassette out of it (Earth, Wind & Fire and really liked that). The radio was still in the car, but I couldn't get reception. Outside they had stolen the radio antenna from the center of the front of the roof panel? Why???? One cassette and 1 antenna, but they left both radio and cassette player! Replacing the antenna was a beggar as well.
Did I learn to double check the locking on the car? Yes. Did it happen again? No. Although the house got burgled a couple of months later and they stole my TV, Hifi, Booze, some gold, money and the bedding sheets to wrap everything up with. They ordered a taxi as their getaway vehicle. The cops told me that they had 29 break-ins in that area in 1 week. They also told me that the thiefs would focus on houses at Christmas and New Year. First to steal the presents you were buying and then later to steal the presents you had received!!

Re: **** me off

Regardless of the word used, I would also have been royally @#$%!ed, too. In a marina with security, that's unacceptable.

Of course, that's assuming there isn't $80 worth of gas in the bilge.
